Woman Finds Abandoned Puppies On The Road And Couldn't Help But Take Them Home

You can't predict what type of animal you'll encounter while driving down a road, especially a rural one. It could be a deer or rabbit just passing through that wants nothing to do with you, or a litter of puppies that's completely obsessed with you, like the one Bita Ghassemi saw earlier this month. She was on her way home from work in Bastrop, Texas, at the time and captured the encounter with her cell phone and shared it on TikTok on October 4.

She told The Dodo that while driving on a back road, she stopped to look at some cows. Ahead of her on the street, she saw four small animals walking toward her. She couldn't identify them at first, but as they got closer, she realized they were puppies. "Oh...oh my God! Oh my God! What do I do?" she exclaims in the video. As if they knew exactly what she would do, the pups continued to approach her, prompting her to get out of her car. They hesitated at first, but their wagging tails gave their true emotions away.

With the pups at her feet, she noticed their ribs showing prominently through their fur. They started to whine, to which she replied, "Okay, okay, okay. It's okay." She knew she couldn't just leave them there, hungry and thirsty, so she gave them water and contacted a local animal shelter. The receptionist said they couldn't take them, forcing Ghassemi to become their shelter.

Where are the puppies now?

Ghassemi went door to door in a nearby neighborhood to look for the puppies' owner, but nobody claimed them. One person did give her some boxes, though, so she loaded the dogs in her car and drove to a friend's house in Austin. There, they were given food, water, and a bath. Ghassemi named the quadruplets Honey, Walnut, Tiger, and Flip. Later that day, she shared a second TikTok video with a request for adopters or fosters. Within a couple of days, the video received hundreds of comments.

Just eight days after her post, all four found their forever homes. Honey, now named Bloom, was adopted first, about 24 hours after Ghassemi's request. She now shares her home with a new canine sibling and feline siblings. Flip was next. Now named Fin, he spent his first night in his home sleeping on a Tempur-Pedic bed with the fan on full blast, according to his adopter's social media post. Tiger also caught someone's eye and is loving his new life. Walnut, now known as Oliver, remained in foster care until October 10 before being adopted.

If it weren't for Ghassemi's kindness and compassion, the dogs might not have survived, judging by the state they were in when she found them. But her story had a happy ending, proving that being a Good Samaritan can literally save an animal's life. Interested in more rescue stories?
