Dachshund Gives Mom The Biggest Side-Eye Ever After Not Getting Any Ice Cream

Dogs make life so much more enjoyable. They provide companionship and make us laugh. They love unconditionally and forgive easily, and unlike humans, they don't hold grudges...or do they? One particular dachshund named Sunny certainly looks like he's holding a grudge about something involving his human, who caught him giving her "the stink eye." She filmed his reaction and shared it on TikTok in October 2025.

In the caption, Sunny's owner jokingly suggests that his side-eye stare stems from her recent ice cream purchase. "He's like 'bih I know you got ice cream in the freezer.' ... Constant judgement and needs attention 24/7," it reads. However, he doesn't just stop with the look, he huffs at her, too. "What are you huffing at? You just ... ate!" his owner says in the background. He holds his gaze, his tail wagging the entire time. 

The video has received more than 33,000 likes and hundreds of comments. Others shared their own stories of their huffing or dramatic dachshunds. "Oh, once you get the sausage dog huff, you know you're in trouble," one said. Another commented, "My dachshund got me out of bed at 4 a.m. the other day just to have me watch him go back to his own bed." A third said her dachshund growls at her if she doesn't look at him for two seconds.

Affectionately referred to as "sausage dogs" or "wiener dogs," dachshunds are known for their long bodies and short, stubby legs, but as many owners of the breed will tell you, dachshunds have distinct personality traits, too. The American Kennel Club describes them as "clever, lively, and courageous." They can also be a bit stubborn and dramatic. In fact, social media is littered with comments from owners who describe their doxies as drama queens and kings. Dachshunds even appeared on the 2025 World Animal Foundation's list of seven drama queen dog breeds.

Reddit is full of dramatic dachshund stories, too, including one where a dachshund yelped and whined after another dog sniffed him without touching him. Many of the dramatic moments that these dogs exhibit are accompanied by that piercing, signature side eye. When they don't get their way or get upset about something, some stomp their paws or huff and puff like Sunny. Sometimes, they side-eye during play as well, like when their human tries to take their toy from their mouth. They're adorable and lovable, but be prepared for some hilarious overreactions if you're planning to add a dachshund to your family.
