Tiny Senior Pup Modeling His Straw Hat Is Ready For The Farmer's Market
Pets probably don't love wearing hats and clothing as much as their owners enjoy dressing them, but many at least tolerate it long enough to have their picture taken. We've all seen dogs and cats donning their Halloween disguises, Christmas costumes, and "just because" outfits. A senior dog living his best life, named Ghostie, experienced his dress-up moment when his mom bought a straw hat for him to wear to a local farmer's market. She shared a video of him sporting his snazzy headwear on TikTok in October 2025.

"We can take him to the farmer's market wearing this," his mom says in the video while holding Ghostie. The clip ends with her saying how pretty he looks wearing the straw hat, complete with the drawstring below his chin. More than 87,000 viewers liked the video, with many commenting on how adorable he is. "Crying over a tiny dog in a straw hat was not on our agenda today," one person said. Another said, "VERY Anne of Green Gables of him."
Unfortunately, a post from the next day revealed that Ghostie wasn't able to show off his new hat at the Mar Vista Farmer's Market, since it doesn't allow dogs. He did, however, still make an appearance there later, discreetly; his mom smuggled him in her purse. The hat, on the other hand, had to stay at home.
Things to keep in mind before putting a hat on your dog
Seeing Ghostie in his hat might inspire you to buy one for your own fur baby, but before you do, there are a few things you should consider. Start with a hat that's lightweight and appears comfy. Make sure it's also sized correctly for your dog's head. Anything too tight can cause discomfort, and anything too loose could easily slide off or block its vision. Let your dog sniff the hat before putting it on.
Once the hat is on, watch your dog's body language. If your dog shakes its head or runs away, you can either try again later or decide it's not worth the effort. Save your receipt! On the other hand, if your dog cooperates like Ghostie did, you'll likely have the perfect photo and video opp. Your pup might even get used to the hat and be fine wearing it around the house. Just be sure not to leave it unattended while wearing the hat if it has a string or poses any other type of choking hazard.
Regardless of how your dog reacts to the cap, plan to keep the first hat sessions short. Pairing them with treats is also a great idea. Reward any positive behavior you see, and remember, the hat should be a fun moment, but you should always prioritize your dog's safety and comfort. Want to see more dogs wearing clothing?
