Golden Retriever Puppy Has Touching Reunion With His Sibling After Being Adopted
Every day, thousands of puppies are born somewhere in the world. Many end up in shelters or in a "puppies for sale" ad online or in the newspaper. Unless a set of siblings is marked as a bonded pair of dogs, the pups typically end up in different homes and never see their littermates again. However, this wasn't the case with a golden retriever named Waffles that was adopted in September 2024. He got the opportunity to reunite with his brother months after their adoption. Waffles' mom, Natalia, shared their reunion video on TikTok about a year after bringing him to her Florida home for the first time.
@awaffleslife I just know our mom would be so happy about this🤍 #familyreunion #goldenretrievers #dogfamily #dogtok
"I just know our mom would be so happy about this," the caption reads. While wearing a snazzy blue harness, Waffles sits like a good boy in a parking lot. His tail wags with a mix of curiosity and excitement as he sees another golden walking toward him, followed by a man holding his leash. His brother, who adorably wears an identical harness under a handkerchief, responds with the same energy, and with their noses inches from each other, they engage in the inevitable sniff greeting.
Do they know they're littermates? Possibly, but we'll never know for sure. What we do know is that they seem to like each other. Viewers enjoyed watching their reunion probably just as much as the brothers enjoyed interacting. "So sweet," one person commented. "Good puppies," another viewer said.
More about the golden retriever sibling duo
Natalia's social media posts don't provide many details about his brother — whose name is Aston — other than that they were both adopted at around 9 weeks of age. She had both dogs in her care at one point, briefly, but Waffles was the one she kept. She gave Aston to someone else, who she kept in touch with to arrange their reunion.
Although their brief interaction in the parking lot was enough to touch even the hardest of hearts, that moment marked just a snippet of the adventure between Waffles and Aston. The reunion continued at the beach, where the brothers rolled in the sand together and played in the water while their humans held them. The play date marked Waffles' first time at the beach, but it certainly wasn't his last.
The brothers have enjoyed more play dates running in the sand, playing in the water, and even paddleboarding. Other posts disclose that Aston was the runt of the litter and that Waffles (the largest) weighs a whopping 10 pounds more than his brother. They may have their differences and live under different roofs, but they share the same love for each other's company. Let's hope Natalia will share more updates on the golden duo soon.
