"You'd never know it's only been a week 😂" is how the video is captioned, as Sully the dog jumps around with excitement before his pet mom can even get the news out. He literally can't contain himself. As his human companion tries to calm him down, he's seen running from room to room and bolting out the door to get to the car with zero hesitation. We even get to see his arrival at grandma and grandpa's house, excitedly looking through the overnight bag his mom packed with all his favorite dog toys before saying goodbye.

"I love how dramatic he is," says one viewer in the comments, while someone else points out that "dude has zero chill." Another speculates just why Sully is so excited: "Let the spoiling begin!!!" Then there's the one who jokes, "He's clearly soooo heartbroken you're leaving him...hahaha." Hey, we'll take a happy dog over a sad dog any day!

Do dogs really understand what we say?

Ask any pet owner, and they will likely tell you that their dog or cat truly understands what they say. In fact, many human companions unabashedly have full-blown conversations with their furry friends. But do pets really understand what we're saying?

The short answer is, yes. But it's a little more complicated than that and is still being studied, as dogs are thought to learn to answer commands and do tricks, etc., by associating specific words with certain actions, items, and sentiments. Much of it is based on tone and context, with an average dog being thought to understand around 200 words. While they do not understand complex sentence structure, they have the astute ability to connect key words with rewards and other actions or feelings — and therefore, they can follow basic commands and even make you feel like you're having a meaningful conversation.

Beyond that, if you've even owned a pet, you very well know that they are adept at picking up on human emotions and helping their people companions celebrate joy or comfort them during tough times. Because like people, dogs experience a wide range of feelings — just like all the different emotions Sully the black lab had while learning he was off to grandma and grandpa's in that adorable TikTok video.
