You Won't Be Able To Take Your Eyes Off Of This Rare Great Dane-Corgi Mix

What happens when two unlikely breeds have a litter of puppies together? You end up with a litter of rare Great Dane-corgi hybrid puppies that were the result of an in-house "accident." The litter of puppies were originally posted on Reddit by user punnyname89. The unlikely mixed breed earned a lot of attention on Reddit and beyond because of the logistics of how a short-statured male corgi got a much, much taller and larger Great Dane pregnant. The resulting mix is both fascinating and charming, as shared by the owner of one of the adopted mutt pups.

According to photos posted by adopter WinterBadger on Reddit, the white and brown mind-blowing crossbreed dog has the oversized body of a corgi with the face of a Great Dane, featuring short legs and a portly physique. "This looks like a genetic disaster!!! But he is so cute," said one commenter, as another added, "He is definitely awfully peculiar looking but at the same time he is spectacularly adorable."

As for the "mutant" litter, the Reddit poster of the pic made a point to say, "The owner of mom and dad take full responsibility for what happened and they ensured the 9 pups went to loving homes who could care for them." That said, definitely take this as a reminder to help control the pet population and have your pets spayed or neutered, as Bob Barker of "The Price Is Right" aptly coined!

Reasons to spay or neuter your pet

While the accidental breeding between the corgi and the Great Dane seemingly had a happy ending, pet overpopulation is a serious problem, with thousands of stray dogs and cats euthanized in shelters every single day across the United States. That's why it's so important to get your female pets spayed, and male pets neutered — aka "fixed" — to help control the overabundance of unwanted animals.

While spaying or neutering your dog isn't without risks, getting your pet fixed also has health benefits for it, such as preventing infections, tumors, and some cancers, and will make life as a pet-owner easier. It can help with reducing vet bills and behavioral issues, like urine marking and howling, and eliminate the pesky "heat" cycle during which animals want to mate, leaving them prone to running away from home, darting across busy streets, and getting in fights with other animals. In short, fixed pets will live longer, healthier lives — and will help reduce the number of unwanted animals in your community. Your pets will thank you!
