Rare White German Shepherd Puppy Looks Like A Marshmallow With 'Toasted' Ears

You're sitting around a nighttime campfire making s'mores, and all of a sudden you think about...your dog's ears? Maybe, if you are the owner of this white shepherd pup named Duke, whose captivating ear color resembles toasted marshmallows! It takes a little imagination, but we can almost taste the perfectly torched sweet treat as we watch this low-key TikTok video featuring Duke's tan, fluffy ears. Are you with us?

The overlayed text on the simple, soothing video of the white shepherd's human gently rubbing Duke's ears rhetorically asked what the viewers' favorite color was. The TikTok creator replied in the video's description, "toasted ear [color] obviously."

"100%," agreed one viewer, while others showed off pictures of their equally toasted-coated doggies in the comments. Surprisingly, though, no one shared any toasted marshmallow-based recipes for us to try, since now all we can think about is the soft, spongy confection. Maybe next time!

What is a white shepherd?

A white shepherd — a la Duke from the TikTok video — is an unusual variety of German shepherd that can be all white or include light cream or light tan accents in its coat. A standard German shepherd is commonly black mixed with tan or red, although they come in a variety of colors. As a direct descendant, the white variety of German shepherd can make both an excellent family companion and/or guard dog just like its predecessor, as it's known for being loyal, protective, and obedient. Some believe that the offshoot's white coat adds an element of uniqueness and beauty.

For the most part, though, they are almost exactly like owning a standard German shepherd, being of similar weight, size, and temperament. Both can weigh up to 90 pounds and stand 22 to 26 inches tall, but the white shepherd has earned its own loyal following because of its coat. Both breeds are heavy shedders because of their thick fur, so diligent, proper grooming is a necessity, as is making trips to the groomer stress-free — but so worth it!
