Mischievous Dachshund Tries To Act Casual After Breaking One Specific House Rule

Dachshunds are easily one of the cutest small dog breeds on many people's lists. But they're also quite possibly one of the most mischievous. It makes sense! Initially tough badger hunters, these pups were quite literally bred to be (at least a bit) stubborn. Luckily, the way their headstrong and independent nature translates into modern day-to-day life can be pretty darn hilarious, like in this TikTok in which a plucky little dachshund named Ella breaks the rules in the most casual way possible. She's nothing if not nonchalant!

The short clip begins with an adorable Ella standing quite comfortably on the dining room table, a big no-no in most households. Off camera, her dog mom says this is her new favorite thing to do, while also acting cute and wagging her tail as if "she's doing nothing wrong." Then, Ella commences to stroll right across the table and look out the window, like it's no big deal.

The most fascinating part of Ella's mischief is what the TikToker shared in the video's caption: "Mind you, she doesn't know how to get down so she just stands up there." That means Ella needs assistance when she's done breaking the rules, which makes her decision to get on the table in the first place even more bold.

How can Ella break her bad habit?

One viewer who commented on the video could be right: "She just wants to see out the window. Geez!" Still, this wiener pup's choice to walk on the dining table is against house rules and, therefore, a pretty bad habit. The question is, when you're as mischievous as Ella, can bad habits be broken?

Here's some good news: it's never too late to train your dog into better habits. Of course, when it comes to training the most stubborn dogs like Ella, there might be a little extra work involved. First, it's important to not just enforce rules, but to show your fur babies how those rules benefit them. This can be done with a little thing called positive reinforcement training, aka rewarding good behavior in your dog.

Rather than responding negatively to what your dog shouldn't do, this training focuses on reinforcing the good stuff. So, Ella's mom might teach her girl a command that keeps her off the table, and reward her with one of her favorite things — a treat or playtime, for example — when she complies. Over time, Ella can learn that this new behavior is more beneficial to her. Training stubborn pups requires a lot of patience, but with some time, Ella just might drop her bad habit.
