Sneaky Pekingese Realizes Mom Sees Him 'The Whole Time' And His Face Is Gold

Dogs, always doing stuff they shouldn't be doing, and chewing on things they shouldn't be chewing. Sometimes, defiantly, and sometimes, they think they're being sneaky. It's a little of both when it comes to this Pekingese pup on TikTok caught gnawing on something he shouldn't be, with mom secretly spotting him in the mirror. The look on his face when he is caught — and what he decides to do after — is priceless.

I thought the mirror was only for scaring me with my own reflection.... #pekingese #puppies #baddog

After a few seconds of George the Pekingese chomping on an off-limits bedside delight, his mom is heard exclaiming, "George!" as she realizes what he's doing from his reflection in the mirror. Of course, he stops and looks up as his mom reveals she can see him, after which things escalate.

His mom calls him by his first and middle names, to which his head tilts before surprisingly getting called his full, adorable name, "George Marie Kinney!" After a moment of startled reflection, the acronym "YOLO" pops up above George's head as he digs back into the forbidden fabric feast, and the clip abruptly cuts off as the content creator yells, "No!" As the saying goes, you only live once!

Why do dogs like to chew on things?

While chewing anything and everything with reckless abandon often comes with puppyhood, it's also a natural instinct that spills over into adulthood for dogs, especially if not properly trained and socialized as a pup. In general, though, dogs of all ages chew for amusement, stimulation, and/or to calm anxiety.

When young, furry friends often chew on things to relieve puppy teething symptoms, satisfy curiosity while playing, and help burn off extra energy. As they age, a dog's random chewing should lessen, but still happens, especially since it's a natural activity that keeps its jaws strong and teeth clean. So, supplying them with appropriate treats and toys is essential. Some ideas for appropriate treats and toys include bully sticks for dogs and super tough toys like Kong balls.

In general, as long as a dog is trained and has appropriate treats and toys to satisfy its chewing instinct, it shouldn't be a big problem. If it's something that is happening more often than you'd like, it's best to see a veterinarian, licensed dog trainer, or behavioralist for advice. Otherwise, just look at it as a good excuse to go out to the pet store and browse the toy aisle!
