Maltese And His 'Uncle' Look Straight Out Of The Shining With Their Twin Stares

If you've seen the 1980s Jack Nicholson movie "The Shining," or know anything about it, you're surely familiar with the creepy twins who appear in the Stanley Kubrick-directed psychological horror classic. Two pale-faced girls holding hands while wearing matching dresses stare blankly down hallways, offering a ghostly reminder of the horrible things that took place at the hotel. Well, forget them, we have a new striking image for you after finding this priceless TikTok video, in which two dogs recreate that "Shining" moment in hopes of going out for a walk.

The simple, uncaptioned video of a tiny Maltese and his much bigger "uncle" captures the two dogs standing at the top of a set of carpeted stairs motionlessly staring...waiting — and freaking people out, apparently! The content creator added some overly creepy piano tinkles that sound eerily like music out of the film to add an extra layer of intensity, but you just can't help but chuckle instead.

While the video doesn't mention "The Shining," people ran to the comments to post pics of the twins from the movie, with one quoting the girls' famous line "'Come and play with us' 🧍🏽‍♀️🧍🏽‍♀️" and another adding, "this was scary ngl." All we'll say is, we'll take this adorable real-life version of "The Shining" over what's happening in the movie version any time!

Signs your dog wants to go for a walk

Aside from sitting at the top of the stairs and giving you "The Shining" stare, what other ways can you tell that your dog is looking to go out for a walk? Well, most of the time it is pretty obvious — a la the Maltese and his uncle — but sometimes the cues can be accidentally ignored.

One big signal is waiting by the door, with some dogs even learning how to get their own leash! Another not-so-subtle hint is when they show sheer excitement if you put on your shoes or jacket or reach for your keys. However, if your pup is pacing or whining and barking while near the door, it's a sure sign they want to go out, most likely to go to the bathroom, so it's best to heed their request, even if it's just letting them out in your backyard

In general, dogs love routine, so make sure you stick to regular bathroom breaks and outdoor time and pay attention to any signs that signal they have to potty asap. But many also love surprise outings and walks, so be sure to keep them in mind when you're heading out or if you don't think they've gotten enough exercise or mental stimulation.
