Frenchie's Face When Mom 'Threatens To Call The Shelter' On Him Is Priceless

There are plenty of dogs who've made huge mistakes, but we love them anyway! Still, sometimes our little canines can be quite the (adorable) challenge: so much so that you may even joke about going your separate ways — though you obviously never would! One TikToker did exactly that in response to her funny Frenchie running amok in a hilarious video, and his reaction is perfectly priceless.

Apparently, Walter Gene the French bulldog is one chaotic fella, and his mom has had enough. Or, at least that's what she wants him to think as she "threatens to call the shelter" (aka pretend to be on a call with a dog shelter as Walter watches in utter confusion). "There's a 23-pound pig in my household who is running amok," she says, alluding to her Frenchie.

As she speaks, Walter stands on an ottoman staring right at his mom, and his shocked expression is priceless. He's clearly not in on the prank despite her laughter when she continues to tell the fake shelter, "Yes, he needs immediate pick up." This comment in particular leaves Walter in disbelief as he stares directly into the camera like a sitcom character. One commenter accurately joked in Walter's voice, "I'm no pig, I'm a baby. So she can't be talking about me."

Are Frenchies troublemakers?

Who knows what Walter did to prompt his mom's prank call, but it may have something to do with this breed's reputation for stubbornness. Still, French bulldogs just ended the Labrador's 31-year reign as America's most popular dog. So, what sort of antics can pet parents of this loveable breed expect? And how should you respond?

Originally, bulldogs were bred to be assertive, big and muscular, and great at bull-baiting, or the now obsolete sport of pitting bulls against dogs. Though French bulldogs are smaller and 200 years removed from their ancestors, that tough and lively spirit lives on; hence the aforementioned "stubbornness." However, much of what may be read as stubborn behavior might actually be misunderstood body language.

Frenchies are a Brachycephalic breed, which means they have squished little faces that can make their expressions hard to read. It can also cause these pups to grunt or pant, which can be totally misread as threatening to other dogs. The fact is, with a little patience and care, Frenchies are capable of being perfectly good dogs. Plus, their tenacity, along with some positive reinforcement training, can also make them great watchdogs! Who doesn't love a little moxie? No wonder Frenchies are a national favorite.
