German Shepherd And Dachshund Puppy Tussle Over Toy Just Like Human Siblings

German shepherds have a reputation for being strong and unstoppably fearless, which is why they are often used in the military or embark on the journey to become K-9 police officers. At home, though, they aren't always the ones in charge when they have been raised to be gentle pets. You'd probably still think a mini dachshund would steer clear of starting a tussle over a toy with a large, muscular dog that physically dwarfs them. No way, says a pup known as Winnie the Mini on TikTok, who has zero second thoughts about wrestling her big dog sister for a ball.

"Dachshund law: if sister has it, I need it," reads the caption on the video, which shows the mini dachshund trying to wrestle a toy out of the German shepherd's mouth — and she is not giving up. "She will not be letting go," states the video, as the struggle continues, with the German shepherd seemingly putting in little effort to hold onto the toy as the doxie nips, jumps, and paws.

"The commitment 😂 ," laughed one watcher about the dachshund, as another noted, "I love she doesn't even acknowledge she is much smaller than her sibling, she goes for it!!😂😂" No word on who won in the end, but it seems just a little too obvious!

Toys that are great for two pets to share

Toys are an essential part of enrichment and mental stimulation for both dogs and cats. When an owner has more than one pet, though, it's best to look into buying toys that can be shared to avoid tussling.

For dogs, shareable toys include tug-o-war ropes, chasers, and interactive puzzle feeders. Tug-o-war ropes are usually at least 20 inches long and ultra-durable to allow two dogs to pull from opposite ends. Chaser toys are often on long poles that let human companions dangle and flick an enticing toy from a safe distance for dogs to chase. Meanwhile, some puzzle toys for dogs encourage teamwork-style interaction in order to release the treats inside.

When it comes to cats, tunnel toys with multiple exits give two or more cats a chance to play hide and seek with each other, while automatic cat toys could keep multiple kitties entertained at the same time. For a household with both dogs and cats who get along harmoniously, things like laser pointers, pet bubbles, or a sturdy wand toy could potentially keep both species interested at the same time.
