But you're in luck if you have pets, as they often like to step in and help make things go smoothly. Just kidding! Well, in their minds, they may be pitching in, just ask this mini Australian shepherd on TikTok who takes helping out the movers so seriously that his family had to cordon him off.

As movers walk by carrying a long TV stand, the video states that the "shepherd has been parked for everyone's safety," as the darling brown and white dog sits leashed behind items that are creating a barrier. "His favorite thing is being in everyone's way 🙂," the caption notes, adding that "movers do not need to be herded" by the dog breed that's, well, known for herding. Presumably. the now-contained mini shepherd had been chasing after the movers prior to being sidelined!

After watching the precious moment, multiple commenters noted the dog appeared to still be "supervising" the job. One person made sure to speak up for the pup, saying, "My job is done," as another stated, "put project management on his LinkedIn 🥰." Meanwhile, this simple statement seems to sum up the clip nicely, "awe he want[s] to be in the way so bad."

Facts about herding dogs

Herding dogs — including Australian shepherds, border collies, and corgis, among other breeds — are known for originally being bred as highly trainable working dogs to wrangle livestock. Breeds in the herding group are considered to be intelligent, energetic, and watchful.

When used as working dogs, they often prove to have high endurance and focus, sometimes spending hours moving livestock on a farm, which means when they are non-working family pets, they require a lot of daily physical and mental exercises to burn off energy and stave off boredom. Of course, each individual dog is different, so there are certainly cases of sluggish household pets within the group.

Living with a herding dog as a family pet often comes with managing their natural instinct to gather and control movement, which can mean anything from chasing cars to barking out the living room window. Luckily, they usually take well to training, which is crucial for any dog.
