In the video — captioned "he's dramatic in everything he does...including yawning" — the corgi named Moose is seen sitting in a silly position as someone gives him simultaneously irresistible back and belly rubs that dogs like so much. As he starts to look like he might drift off, he lets out a big, theatrical yawn. Between the goofy pose and the pure confidence of it all, this little pup steals the spotlight without even trying.

"The yawn noises make my heart flip," admitted one person in the comments section, as another laughed about the chunky-looking position he's sitting in. So simple, yet so satisfying. Thanks, Moose, for showing that sometimes the most entertaining social media stars are the ones who are doing nothing more than being themselves!

Why do dogs yawn?

Dogs yawn for several different reasons, with the main ones being that they're sleepy or they're using the gesture as a calming, coping mechanism. Either way, they often look extra cute doing it because they're animals.

While it's the obvious cause, being sleepy and ready for bed isn't the only motive for dogs yawning, as it can also be a self-soothing technique that helps them relax. That's why you'll sometimes notice pups yawn during dog-training sessions, when being petted, or when interacting with new people or other pets. It comes across as just yawning, but in reality, they may be showing some anxiety or desire to be left alone.

In general, though, a slow, relaxed yawn that's followed by stretching usually means your pup is unwinding, waking up, or possibly even bored, just like a person. Also, a yawn helps stretch the jaw, increase airflow, and give a quick burst of alertness. When a cute dog is involved, the gesture can seem extra dramatic and adorable because of their fluffy face, floppy posture, and unexpectedly exaggerated expression. So much so that it's worthy of watching on repeat!
