Already seated in the car, the Newfie named Chewy gives his best sad eyes on TikTok as he silently says bye to grandma, whom he loves so much. Even when his dog mom reminds him of all the fun he's going to have, his eyes reveal a heavy heart filled with sweet memories, like enjoying a beautiful snowfall with his 96-year-old grandma in the past.

"Awww he loves his grandma🥰🥰🥰🥰," reiterated one person in the comments, as another simply said, "He's devastated." Yes, even with the promise of sun-soaked adventures ahead, and most likely more than a few yummy snacks, a little piece of his heart clearly always stays with grandma.

Newfoundland eyes tell a story

Newfoundland dogs have those big, expressive eyes that seem to say everything without a single word. It's partly their gentle nature and partly their appearance, with soft features, bushy brows, and slightly droopy lids that naturally give them that meaningful look. They were bred to work closely with people, especially in water rescues, as they are known for their incredible swimming skills, so reading human emotions became a big part of their personality over time.

Those soulful eyes aren't just for show; they help the breed bond with humans and connect on a deeper emotional level. A newfie can look guilty, happy, or totally heartbroken all in one afternoon, even if nothing dramatic has happened. Add in their calm, loyal temperament, and you have a dog that basically wears its heart on its sleeve.

Sometimes, it can even feel like they understand every sentence you speak and moment that's unfolding. Saying goodbye to grandma? There's the look. Eating a snack without sharing? Suddenly, you're being silently judged by a very fluffy face across the room. But we all know that that quiet, expressive gaze is part of what makes them so lovable.
