Poppy The Dog Gets Spoiled With 'Luxurious Life' At Grandma's House & It's Too Cute

When it comes to vacations, going to grandma's house is basically a dog's dream. There are extra treats and cuddles as well as someone who's convinced there's nothing wrong with a little — or even a lot of — spoiling. Who would say no to being spoiled? Definitely not this boxer named Poppy, who's donning a silky shower bonnet while cuddling up in grandma's bed awaiting her "peasant parents" to leave for vacation!

In the Instagram post, Poppy's grandma expertly makes you question whether she's joking or not when she tells the dog that staying at her house will not be like "that peasant prison" her owners provide, as she plans on letting the pup snack on "Chantilly lace cake and vanilla cookies and crackers and butter." While the dog looks very relaxed, sometimes Poppy's eyes seem to say, "Wait, what did you say?"

"If I got $1 for every time grandma said 'peasant' I'd be rich," joked one viewer, as another asked, "Can I spend summer with this grandma?" Whether Grandma's menu ever actually included Chantilly lace cake is anyone's guess, but one thing's for sure: It will be hard to convince spoiled rotten Poppy to go back home with her "peasant parents" when they return!

Spoiling your dog doesn't necessarily mean buying a bunch of new toys or feeding them endless snacks. Most pups would happily trade those things for more time with their favorite person, which you can do by letting them stop and sniff every interesting area of grass on a walk or taking a few extra minutes to play fetch or cuddle on the couch. There are certainly plenty of dog-friendly activities beyond going for a morning walk that you can include them in to shake things up. 

You can also make everyday routines more exciting by serving meals on a lick mat for dogs, freezing dog-safe snacks for a longer-lasting treat, or hiding kibble around the house for a little doggy scavenger hunt. When you're preparing dinner, offer a "taste test" of some of the vegetables that are safe for dogs, like a crunchy carrot stick or a scoop of plain sweet potato, and they'll think they've won the lottery.

Sometimes, the biggest treat is making your dog feel included by bringing them along for a car ride or letting them pick out a new toy at the pet store. At the end of the day, it's really all about your attention and affection — and maybe, yes, a few special treats too!
