Cape Buffalo Calf Shows Off His Little 'Teef' In Silly Zoo Snaps

We've all seen dogs — and maybe a few cats — with underbites that leave their bottom teeth adorably protruding out into the universe. But we bet you haven't encountered a baby buffalo with two big buck teeth sticking out at the bottom in the silliest way. So, thanks to us, you can file this image under: things you didn't know you needed to see today!

On X, the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance posted pics of a cape buffalo calf showing off his little teeth alongside a questionnaire about how to describe the new addition: "Silly? Cute? So good at having bottom teeth?" How about "all of the above?" Yeah, that's the ticket, with the little calf's goofy grin quickly becoming a fan favorite.

"TEEF," one person just exclaimed in the comments, while another chimed in with, "the bottom toofies are adorbs." With its two teeth totally stealing the show, this baby buffalo has officially earned a place among the internet's cutest and quirkiest creatures.

The cape buffalo, also known as an African buffalo, are huge bovines weighing close to 2,000 pounds that are found in sub-Saharan Africa. They are impressive giants that prove that even peaceful grazers can be some of nature's toughest survivors. They are known for their thick, curved horns and massive build, with the adult males sporting a fused-horn base called a "boss" that helps protect their skulls during battles. Although they may look slow and relaxed, these oversized animals are built for strength and can move surprisingly fast when threatened.

Cape buffalo usually travel in large herds that can include hundreds of these animals in order to protect each other, especially from predatory lions. Together, they spend hours a day grazing on grass, which is their main source of food. Despite that idle appearance, they can be unpredictable and wildly defensive, making them a powerful animal that should only be viewed from afar.
