Squirrel Steals The Show At MLB Game & Announcers' Hilarious Play-By-Play Adds To The Silly Chaos

It's not every day that a squirrel bounds onto a baseball field and upstages the professional athletes, but that's exactly what happened on July 27, 2026, during a Major League Baseball game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers. At first, the squirrel seemed to be searching for a way out of the stadium, which caught the attention of the cameraperson and the announcers, who encouraged the rambunctious rodent to leave through an open door. 

But the squirrel hesitated. "He's taking a moment. He's using one of his timeouts," joked one of the announcers. They then proceeded to intersperse play-by-play commentary on the game with moment-by-moment commentary on the squirrel's actions — sprinting around the field, zigzagging, "playing deep infield," receiving a seed from one of the players — cataloging the little guy's every movement for a hilarious 12 minutes.

The grounds crew for the Tigers came onto the field and tried to capture the critter. "But we are told that in the eighth inning all those grounds crew members will screw in a light bulb."

Several netizens wondered about the eventual fate of the sassy squirrel.
