We've all looked at our pets and wished we could turn back time to when they were younger and in better health. So, a clip like this TikTok video hits a little different when you have an aging pet, watching someone else reflect on their pet as a puppy versus as a senior via video evidence. Loulou the pug from TikTok is now 11 in this video, which shows "ways Loulou has stayed the same in 11 years." We see her watching TV as a young, energetic puppy in 2014 to a fuller-figured girl plopped in one spot to do the deed in 2025. We see that she makes the same yawning noises as a puppy in adulthood, and that she still often sticks her tongue out like many dogs who forget to put it away. Of course, one amazing thing we witness in the video, especially when her big puppy-dog eyes are shown off, is that her face looks just as smooth and wrinkle-free now as it did back in 2014.

How senior dogs differ from puppies
Puppies and senior dogs will both steal your heart, but living with them can feel like two completely different adventures. Puppies are small bundles of energy and curiosity who explore with their mouths and need lots of supervision as they learn the basics. Senior dogs, on the other hand, are usually more reserved, tending to enjoy predictable routines, long naps, and hanging out with their favorite humans without turning the living room into an obstacle course. Obviously, puppies look and act younger than a senior, who may be a little pudgier, have a few more gray hairs, and show other obvious signs of aging, like cataracts.
Training is another big difference between the two ages. Puppies can learn quickly, but their attention spans are short, so patience is essential, while older dogs usually have basic manners and an understanding of household rules. However, changes in hearing, vision, or mobility in senior pups can sometimes mean they need extra time and patience too.
For both, caring for them can be complicated. Puppies need early developmental support, vaccinations, and proper training and socialization while seniors need more frequent veterinary visits, medications, and lifestyle modifications to stay healthy. In short, puppies bring chaos and growth, and seniors bring a sense of calm and slowing down. No matter what age, though, they will love you with all their heart.
