Friendly Coyote Just Wants A Nap, But Her Raccoon Bestie Has Other Plans

Add Cuteness on Google:

Nap time is precious, and you might give grumpy eyes if someone gets in the way of it. That certainly applies to most people, and the same can be said for one coyote who wasn't as friendly to her raccoon bestie who messed with that downtime, especially when the furry masked bandit with a humorous name kept nudging her feet.

Digital creator Tim McMechan posted a Facebook reel with Weave the coyote resting on the ground as he comforts her. Nearby, her raccoon pal named Squirrel rustles around, keeping Weave from drifting off — even as her human companion rubs the silver-and-white fur on her head and belly, noting, "I can usually get her to take a nap." At one point, Squirrel rubs up against the coyote's toes, much to Weave's dismay. The coyote eventually lies her head down, her eyes still alert as Squirrel scampers around nearby. McMechan, who narrates the entire video, keeps both animals cool.

Known across social media for #weavethecoyote and "The Duck and Weave Show" (named after his pet dog and wild resident coyote), McMechan is a grain cart driver, and his fun-loving videos regularly feature farm life, nature, and an eclectic roster of animals. After all, his tagline on YouTube reads, "You can make a pet out of anything as long as you don't mind getting bit." Many wild animals love humans, but we'll leave McMechan to make pets out of them.

Weave and Squirrel aren't the only animals in Tim McMechan's life

Weave and Squirrel aren't the only animals hanging out with Tim McMechan for social media fun. In other videos, he can be seen with dogs, cats, an ostrich, bunnies, or bald eagles that he's taken in or lovingly observed from a distance while working. You can often find him taking walks, petting, or wrestling with them. You can even see him read a bedtime story to Weave as they sit together on the sofa.

One of the most notable animals is Duck Holliday (undoubtedly named after the Old West icon Doc Holliday), a brown-and-white pit bull who's often captured hanging out with Weave. For instance, one sweet video shows Duck and Weave getting treats, and you can't help but love both of them from afar.

Though Weave acts like a domesticated pet at times, coyotes are quite different from domestic dogs. In some videos, Weave is playing or living the life up indoors with the rest of the family, while in others, she's visiting from her wild outdoor life. She clearly loves being close to McMechan and the other animals, as one YouTube video shows that Weave has been working hard on a new outdoor den closer to McMechan's house. Ultimately, tales like Weave's are beyond beautiful and show the true power of interspecies animal friendships.
