Bernedoodle Puppy Gives An Oscar-Worthy Performance During 'Scary' Jump
Like little kids, puppies can carry some big emotions when trying things on their own for the first time. So, while adults may view something as simple, a child or puppy might be nervous to actually try it. Take this Bernedoodle puppy named Bear, for example, who shows some serious hesitation about jumping down off the couch for the very first time. He definitely puts on a show!
@bearthedoodle12726 I'm getting to be a big boy! I finally got down all by myself!! 🐶 #beradoodle #puppytiktok #bernadoodlepuppy
"It may not seem like a big deal but jumping down is soooo scary," reads the TikTok caption, as the dog paces back and forth looking for help to get off the low-level couch. After several false starts and some coaxing, though, he does it! Everyone is so happy he made the "scary" jump, including Bear. "I'm getting to be a big boy! I finally got down all by myself!!" proudly notes the video that captures the hilarious pet action shot.
"Aww he's so brave," one person stopped by the comments to say, as another added, "And then they get too brave 🤣🤍." Big milestones call for big celebrations — even if your big adventure is just making it off the couch!
Are dogs natural jumpers?
Dogs are natural jumpers, thanks to their muscular legs and athletic love of play. From hopping over logs on a walk to launching themselves at a favorite toy, many pups seem to have a spring in their step.
Jumping usually starts during puppyhood as youngins play with littermates and develop coordination. Still, not every dog is a natural jumper, and some would rather keep their paws on the ground. How high a dog can jump depends on several factors, including breed, body type, age, and fitness and confidence levels. Even natural jumpers can hesitate when it comes to jumping off a couch, especially if they're unfamiliar with the height or unsure where they'll land. So, for a puppy still developing coordination, that small drop can feel like a pretty big and unpredictable leap.
Although jumping comes naturally to many dogs, that doesn't mean unlimited leaps are good for them. Repeated high jumps and hard landings can put stress on their joints and backs, particularly in older dogs, so providing pet stairs and ramps can sometimes be a much-needed relief — something this adorable mini dachshund puppy that missed her jump may appreciate!
