Plenty of people dress up their dogs on occasion, while some do it on the regular. It's certainly a sight to behold, especially if said dog really doesn't mind donning outfits (like these six dressed-up pups). This sweet cocker spaniel named Princess Penny is one of those pups, so much so that she and her human rolled out a video log on TikTok showing off how she just keeps getting more and more stylish as she grows up.

Set to a sentimental song, the clip shows Penny's different styles from age 2 months to 12 months, alongside the caption, "Watch my puppy grow up..." Then, we see the tender-eyed pup all dolled up in different dresses and hair accessories, looking both super-stylish and absolutely adorable at each individual stage.

In the comments section, viewers cooed: "She's beautiful ❤️🐾" and "She so cute she is my dream dog." It seems Penny is always a fashionista, from start to finish!

Should you dress up your dog?

Whether you're eyeing a classic Halloween costume or a cozy winter sweater, dog clothing can be both practical and fun, although it is usually not necessary. However, small dogs, short-haired dogs, and older dogs may appreciate a warm coat when temperatures drop, and raincoats can also help during wet walks. So, in these cases, clothing serves a purpose beyond looking cute.

Most dogs are perfectly comfortable in their natural fur coats. In fact, breeds like huskies and golden retrievers have thick coats that help regulate body temperature, so extra layers can make them overheat. If you do decide to dress up one of these breeds (or any others) for fun, choose an appropriately fitted outfit free of dangling strings or small parts that could pose choking hazards.

The most important factor when it comes to clothing is your dog's comfort. Introduce items gradually, offering treats and letting your pup adjust to wearing clothes at their own pace. Always watch for signs of stress, including pacing, excessive panting, or trying to remove the outfit, and if your dog seems uncomfortable, take the outfit off immediately. After all, the best-dressed dogs are the ones who feel good too!
