German Shepherd Acts Like He's On Dancing With The Stars While Chasing His Shadow
"Dancing with the Stars" judges might claim to know a good dancefloor routine when they see one, but they've likely never seen the magical moves of this German shepherd locked into a life-or-death dance-off with himself. Yes, this dog is featured in a viral video on a Facebook reel where he's standing in a sunny spot witnessing his own shadow stalking him. That's where the dance moves come into play, as Chester the German shepherd turns a sunny afternoon into a ballroom performance with his shadow as the dance partner.
To be fair, it's less of a dance Chester is doing with his shadow than a jump up and onto his shadow, pairing well with the "Jump Around" hip-hop song playing in the video's background. He even paws at the floor for a moment, wondering why his dance partner just isn't keeping up with his fanciful paw moves.
This isn't Chester's first time showing his dancing paws on social, either. He's perfected his pirouette on a doggy yoga mat with "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" playing. As Chester spins, he's of course playing with a chew toy while occasionally tossing a look at the judges filming the whole thing.
Chester loves to dance, even if may not be official trained dog dancing
Chester may have the moves, but it's an open question whether he could be a canine DWTS champ if competing against fellow furry dancing stars. Take this adorable pug on two legs, or this border collie's dance routine with his mom that brings on the tears, for example. Yes, dancing dogs aren't strangers to social media.
Sure, it's fun to joke about Chester being featured on DWTS and possibly going up against other furry friends, but could Chester ever actually compete in choreographed doggy dances, like the official U.S. freestyling dog sport recognized since 1999 by the World Canine Freestyle Organization (WCFO)?
That's a bit of a mystery, even for those who wonder if they could, in fact, train their dog to dance. However, that's not what has happened here with Chester. Nope, this German shepherd stumbled into these accidental dance moves through a fascination with his shadow. At least it's not him sensing a supernatural force!
