5 Costumes From The 2026 NYC Halloween Dog Parade That Are Just Our Pup Of Tea

During spooky season, pup lovers everywhere prep for one very special day: the annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade in New York City! Canines and their companions gathered from all around to show off their seasonal looks, and many of them showed off in various social media posts. From classic dog Halloween costumes to clever and even funny references, these dressed-up pups never disappoint.

An Instagram video round-up features just a few of the many highlights from the New York Dog Parade. To name a few, there was a doggy duo playing Odyssey characters, Marie Antoinette (or, a pup in a blond wig atop a satin-pink cake), and this year's winner Snickers, an adorable Shih Tzu who came dressed as Knicks player Jalen Brunson, inside a giant basketball. As one viewer shared in the comments, we have "no notes, just obsession!"

The Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade is run by the nonprofit New York Dog Parade, and it's quite literally the largest dog parade in the world. In its 36th year as of 2026, the festivities overtook the East Village of New York City. So let's enjoy just a few more of these dog-tastic looks from one of the world's most beloved Halloween traditions.

A Pug-alicious charcuterie board

Don't you just love a good charcuterie board? How about a bit of "pugmesan" to top it all off? Well, we do too, and one pug-fectly brilliant Instagram post is making mouths water all over the globe for the real thing — including the hungry pug inside a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano. The intricate Halloween costume is well equipped with fake wine bottles, grapes, bread, and other cheese.

There's even a lovely "Parm and Co" sign up front. As one viewer pointed out, the food isn't real, and it seems like the pug would much prefer it if it were. Luckily, its human was seen feeding it little doggy treats along the parade trail.

Fun fact: yummy dog treats are a huge win in positive reinforcement training, and possibly part of the reason this pug seems so chill! Another commenter mused that this might be one of the more comfortable Halloween costumes since the homemade parm wheel acts as its chin rest.

Bad Coconut at the Super Bowl

Bad Bunny fans, get ready, because here comes Bad Coconut, aka Coconut Jones, the lovable Maltese-turned-international superstar. Her Instagram shows this cutie transforming into the Puerto Rican rapper-singer's look featured in the 2026 Super Bowl, and her parents worked pretty hard on every detail.

In the video, we see Bad Coconut's final form as she lies patiently on the cart while wearing a Bad Bunny wig and white jersey. Then, we get to go behind the scenes as all the soon-to-be elements of her mini parade float are seen splayed out across the living room couch.

Next, Coconut plays and/or stares in the background as her parents build a mini football field, jumbotron, and a tiny goal post out of a "comically large" PVC pipe. Coconut's mom and dad even dressed up as sugarcane leaves. As one viewer perfectly stated, these pawrents had some "next-level dedication" for this epic Halloween costume, and it was totally worth it!

A very unique floral arrangement

Sure, Halloween can be a wonderful time for ghouls and goblins, but who says you can't go for just darn cute, as well? Beta sure did. For her first-ever visit to the NYC dog parade, she showed up as a bouquet of flowers — and what a wonderful choice that was!

An Instagram slide features the maltipoo with an orange floral headpiece and a forest-green sweater covered in felt, pastel flowers. The next photo shows Beta with her dad, who wears little flowers that match hers inside his overall pockets. More proof that Beta's costume is just perfect for her? Well, she spends a lot of time around flowers.

One Instagram picture shows the fur baby with pink highlighted ears standing in front of a wall of flowers with a caption that reads, "You're as pretty as a flower!" Also, Beta's no stranger to dress-up. In fact, just days after the parade, she wore an all-pink fuzzy number just perfect for fall. Oh, and we agree with one commenter: pink is most definitely her color.

If the house from Up were a pug

Kuma the pug's no stranger to the annual NYC dog parade, and it shows! This year, he came to the house as the Disney movie "Up," and his dad was dressed as the old man in the house, Carl Fredricksen. In previous years, according to his Instagram, this little guy's been a pineapple, and even Darth Vader! Now, this is what we call creative!

Kuma was a crowd favorite at the parade, and thankfully, he's seen being held in most of his photos. First off, because he's a flying house, he's got to be in the sky (duh!). But this is also great news, as the NYC dog parade lasts five whole hours. That's a long time for a pug to walk!

For context, pugs aren't known for being the most energetic pups around (don't let this speedy pug running fool you). While they can be playful and require exercise just like most dogs, it's best to be careful not to tire your pug out. They're a brachycephalic breed, which means they have smooshed little faces that can make it tough to breathe.

The cutest pile of trash you ever did see

It's no secret that New York City can sometimes have a smell, to say the least. A Business Insider article even explored why the city stinks so badly at certain times of the year (a lot of people living in one spot means a lot of garbage is produced). So, perhaps the most New York-themed costume at the parade this year is one dog's take on New York City "hot trash!"

An Instagram slideshow shows Tiger Blaze sitting pretty inside a doggy-sized model of a typical New York trash can, full of random paper, a banana, a metro card, and poop bags. The "cherry on top?" A pigeon sits on the tippy top of Tiger's poop bag hat in the most epic little detail that rounds out the whole look. One viewer joked that Tiger's got "Oscar the Grouch shaking in his boots," and we agree!
