Woman Finds 3 Dogs That All Look Like Pandas And Their Bond Was Meant To Be
Many people have a type when it comes to dating. For example, some prefer certain hair colors, personalities, or lifestyle choices over others. Dog owners can have a type, too, often by leaning toward certain breeds or physical traits. A dog foster mom named Carly is one of them. Her type? Dogs that look like panda bears, the animal she's had a sweet spot for since she was a little girl. Decades later, she got her pandas, but in canine form. The Dodo shared the story on YouTube in October 2025 about her unexpected "panda trio."
In early 2021, Carly adopted a 4-year-old pit bull mix with a white face, black ears, and black circles around her eyes — and what better name for her than Panda? About a year and a half later, she fell in love again and adopted a puppy at a shelter with the same distinctive facial appearance. She named him Dallas, and he gravitated toward Panda and even mimicked her movements and behaviors. The pair quickly became best buds.
As a dog foster mom, Carly has cared for many dogs over the years and likely never expected to come across a third "panda dog," but that's exactly what happened. In February of 2022, 11 husky mix puppies were rescued from a field after being dumped right before a snowstorm hit. She saw a photo of the pups online and applied to foster one that resembled her panda duo. Shortly after, she brought him home and named him Cannoli; within two weeks, he was adopted.
How Panda and Dallas are doing today
Carly has fostered many dogs since adopting Panda, but Panda and Dallas are her permanent babies. Based on her recent Instagram posts, the pair seems to be doing well. Dallas celebrated his 4th birthday in July 2025. Other posts show the pair lounging around on the sofa and enjoying car rides together and, of course, spending time with their panda-loving human. They even got the opportunity to hang out with a couple of other fosters with the signature black and white face last year.
Curious about the DNA makeup of the pair, Carly got a Wisdom Panel kit for each of her canine companions. The results, which were revealed in an Instagram post, showed that Panda is 50% American pit bull terrier, 32% American Staffordshire terrier, 7% boxer, and 0% panda bear. Dallas has an almost identical makeup; he's 64% American pit bull terrier, 28% American Staffordshire terrier, and 3% boxer.
