Australian Shepherd Meets Kitten For The First Time And Falls In Love Instantly
It's hard to look at a kitten without being completely enamored by its cuteness and innocence. Their gentle little faces, squeaky meows, and soft, fluffy fur practically spell out "pick me up and pet me." Humans aren't the only ones these pocket-size critters can captivate, however. Some dogs also find themselves practically hypnotized by kittens, including an Australian shepherd named Goose. His human, Madelyn, rescued a kitten a few months after kitten season in mid-September of 2025 with plans to rehome him, but Goose had an agenda of his own.
She shared a video of their introduction on TikTok. According to her caption, it was Goose's first interaction with a cat. The bond was instant. "How am I supposed to get rid of this nugget now," the caption continues. Goose initially sniffs the kitten's nose. The tiny feline looks up and sniffs back, curiously. More than 10 times his size, the dog continues to explore the small, fluffy creature in front of him as his tail wags with excitement. He then gently paws the kitten on the head, and after a few more moments of intense sniffing, Goose makes an executive decision. The cat now belongs to him.
@maddyslittlefarm this was goose's first interaction with a cat🥹how am i supposed to get rid of this little nugget now😭😭 #animallover #fyp
The clip has received more than 410,000 likes and counting and more than 1,500 comments. Unsurprisingly, viewers were just as enthralled by the video as Goose was about the kitten. "You better not break his heart. That's his baby now," one person said. Another predicted that the duo would become best friends.
Did Madelyn keep the kitten?
She did! The canine-feline pair is now enjoying unlimited snuggling, sniffing each other, and just spending quality time together, being best friends. As if that weren't enough of a happy ending, Goose now has two kittens to care for. The one he fell in love with was rescued along with three of his littermates. Madelyn kept two of them. Viewers offered several name recommendations on social media, leading her to name Goose's kitten Rooster and his sibling Maverick. In their early months, Goose cared for them both like they were his own puppies.
As her TikTok handle implies, Madelyn feeds chicken and even deer in her backyard regularly. She also adopted a second dog named Toady about a month after rescuing Rooster and Maverick. Maddy is basically a modern-day Snow White, minus the dwarves. As for the pets, a clip from November 2025 shows the Top Gun trio and Toady hanging out, watching television together. Needless to say, Goose and Rooster are certainly loving life with their other canine and feline siblings, along with their winged and hooved outdoor friends.
