"Bred for the Swiss Alps...now enjoys a Dyson blowout," reads the caption, as dramatic music plays while the adorable Bernese pup named Thor gets his long, luxurious tri-colored coat blow-dried in the family bathroom. While the magnificent breed is known to love the snow and winter weather because of its cold-climate lineage, this dog doesn't seem to mind some hot air — because even at-home pampering can feel refreshing.

"Majestic fluffer 😃," says one enamored viewer, as others drop comments about what a beautiful dog he is. And indeed he is. Here's to looking like a million bucks, Thor!

Caring for a Bernese mountain dog's coat

Bernese mountain dogs are known for their striking coats, having long, luxurious tri-colored fur that really makes them stand out. Their trademark thick double coat is water-resistant and designed for cold weather, insulating them while also making them look quite breathtaking. The fur is generally soft and silky, with mostly black coloring with strategically placed tan and white patches.

That remarkable look, though, needs a lot of upkeep, as Bernese mountain dogs are known to shed and need regular grooming. The right dog brush is needed for their double coat, and regular bathing and blow drying is a necessity, otherwise hair mats could form quickly. You should never shave double-coated dog breeds because it damages their coat and dysregulates their internal temperature control.

If you've never owned a Bernese before, it's best to research what specific care is needed with them and their coats before considering getting one as a pet, as their grooming needs can be costly and/or time-consuming. However, anyone who owns one will tell you it's oh so worth it!
