Bernedoodle Tries To Avoid Getting In Trouble And Decides To Play Dead Instead
If you have pets, you know that the potential for unruly behavior and unexpected surprises are always just around the corner. An overnight accident, a chewed-up shoe, table scraps being stolen in a flash...it's all par for the course with pets. But how you — and your pet — react is what makes all the difference. Here, one mischievous TikTok dog is caught red-handed doing something he shouldn't be doing, and when his pet parents calmly reprimand him, he decides to play dead.
@samispalter not the wedding matches #badboylox
At the start of the clip, the Bernedoodle named Lox is found eating a box of matches from his human companions' wedding. "What did you do?" the dog dad asks, as wooden matches are found on the floor and strewn on the couch, and the fluffy pup immediately lies down and plays dead to avoid the conversation. Eventually, he and his human have a serious talk about how eating other people's property is not appropriate, to which the engaged pup looks generally concerned and maybe even feels some guilt.
People quickly jumped to the comments to come to Lox's defense, saying things like "He's really trying to understand 😫" and "I feel Lox showed some remorse in this video." Meanwhile, another person noted, "The head tilt and the sassiness at the end...❤️" Either way, we're sure Lox learned his lesson. Maybe.
How to handle disobedience in dogs
Dogs are dogs, and they can be a handful — barking out windows, jumping on people, chewing on things. It's part of who they are, and humans must accept that to some extent. But to be healthy, safe pets, they always need proper training and socialization. After that, when a dog is disobedient, it's up to the owner to handle it calmly and properly.
Managing disobedience should focus on positive reinforcement training rather than punishment, revisiting consistent, rewards-based training if necessary. When a pooch does something inappropriate, redirect them to an appropriate action, and then every time they do that positive action, give them pats, praise, or a treat to make listening to commands more rewarding than misbehaving.
If your dog consistently does the same bad thing over and over, proactively address the problem by controlling their environment by using a leash, putting up a pet gate, or keeping certain items out of their reach to put an end to the habit. Also, make sure your pup has both mental and physical exercise to stave off any boredom or excess energy that sometimes leads to acting out. Never hit, yell at, or mistreat a pet, as this can cause fear and reactive-aggression, doing more harm than good. Staying cool, calm, and collected is the name of the game!
