Toy Poodle Gets Kicked Out Of Trader Joe's For Barking And Looks Totally Unbothered

We've surely all had moments embarrassing ourselves while out shopping — a dropped jar of pasta sauce, kids running wild, or maybe awkwardly misreading cues that the store manager was flirting when they were just being polite. But if you're not an unfazed toy poodle who's been escorted out of Trader Joe's for barking at people, you're clearly doing it all wrong. Just ask this adorable little fluffball whose in-store chaos caused them and their pet mom to be asked to leave the specialty grocery store.

"That one time Jaxx embarrassed us at Trader Joe's," reads the caption on the TikTok video that shows the unbothered toy poodle looking more interested in where they're going next than listening to mom's lecture. "Jaxx, it's time to have a conversation," the human companion can be heard saying, before adding, "Who gets kicked out of Trader Joe's?" To which the fluffy pup just responds by looking totally chill — and a little annoyed — in the back seat of the car.

"He thinking where we getting kicked out of next 😂," joked one person, as others flew by to offer insights like, "Tell him that's Walmart behavior" and "Every look back was like 'oh you're still talking' 🤣." The funny, spot-on comments go on and on, to the point where we highly suggest running to the section just to scroll. You won't be disappointed!

How to keep your dog from barking in a store

To have a bark-free adventure to a store with your pup, it's all about training and socialization, a.k.a. desensitization to the situation via positive reinforcement. Otherwise, it's going to be a chaotic time if your pup starts barking at every stranger, squeaky shopping cart wheel, or crinkling package as you and your fellow shoppers try to get through the day.

Assuming your dog is already trained and socialized properly in the basics, success actually starts before you even leave the house. It may seem counterintuitive, but before going on your shopping adventure, it's best to take your furry friend for a walk or play a game of fetch to burn off some energy, as a pup with pent-up energy is much more likely to turn every new sight and sound into a reason to bark. Then, as you step out, grab some favorite treats to bring as a secret weapon for when outside distractions pop up.

Inside the store, the best move is to grab their attention as soon as any barking starts by going back to their training, giving them commands, and rewarding them for good behavior. They should quickly realize that checking in with you before barking pays off better than announcing their opinions to the entire store. If that doesn't work and your dog seems overwhelmed, move to a quieter aisle to give them a moment to settle down or cut the outing short if necessary. Just remember that every calm, positive shopping trip builds confidence, making future visits easier for both of you and everyone sharing the aisle.
