Ducky The Mini Dachshund Steals Millions Of Hearts With Tiny Fashion Show
Dachshunds are already small dogs, so a mini dachshund is extra tiny — and extra cute. That's where this mini doxie puppy named Ducky comes in, as she's so petite her owner isn't sure what to do with all the doll-sized clothes she bought that probably won't fit — until she thinks of a brilliant idea: a tiny fashion show!
@ana.matei MEET DUCKY!! 🐥 our new mini dachshund!! #miniaturedachshund #puppy #dachsund #longhaireddachshund
In the TikTok video, the black mini wiener dog is described as "about the size of my shoe" by her new owner, who purchased "many things" for her to wear before the pup showed up significantly smaller than expected. Ducky's first walk down the doggy runway involves a teeny dress that is immediately "too big, confirmed," as it drags on the floor. Then, of course, she swims in the newly acquired harness and leash that's way too big. While her bright pink booties seemingly fit, the little pup appears to hate them and refuses to even try to walk in the booties. Still, just for the cuteness factor, we give this model a 10!
"OH MY GOSH 😍 the immediate feet just flopping out in her boots is top tier cuteness!" squealed one watcher, as many weighed in with comments like, "She's literally perfect omg😭😭." Of course, there were also plenty of people who questioned why the owner was dressing up the dog like a doll, with a top comment being, "Hey so dogs need none of this." No, they don't, but it sure was cute while it lasted!
How small do mini dachshunds stay?
Mini dachshunds may be tiny, but they pack plenty of personality into their short-legged frames (like this mini dachshund throwing the cutest temper tantrum). As adults, miniature dachshunds generally weigh 11 pounds or less and stand around 6 inches tall at the shoulder, making them compact companions for people who love having a dog curl up beside them without taking over the couch. Almost all minis reach their full size by their first birthday, and every puppy is different, with genetics making some minis bigger or smaller than expected.
Standard dachshunds are noticeably bigger than their mini counterparts, typically weighing 16 to 32 pounds and standing around 9 inches tall at the shoulder. Then, there are the unofficial "tweenies," which are dachshunds that land between the two sizes at 12 to 15 pounds.
Of course, all puppies start out small, so always expect that cute little thing to grow into an adult dog and look different than they did when you first got them. Luckily, there are ways that you can estimate the size of puppies as full grown dogs if you're not sure. No matter what, though, they're sure to be adorable!
