Ah, dressing pets up for Halloween is nothing short of hilarious. There are so many classic dog costumes to choose from, and we've probably all chuckled at a little pup dressed up as Chucky, the murderous doll. But have you ever seen a cat rocking the outfit? That's exactly what this Maine coon cat is doing on Instagram!

"I'm sorry but Scout as a little furry murderous doll will absolutely NEVER get old 😝," reads the caption on the clip that shows the large-breed, overfluffed kitty comically lounging around in a little doll suit while holding a pretend knife, looking a lot like the relentless horror movie icon that some deem scary. People in the comments had a similar take on the look, with one person saying, "I laugh every time. Doesn't matter how many times I've already seen it." Yes, it's all fun and games until you come across this Chucky cat at night, walking down a dark hallway when you get up for a midnight snack!

Do cats mind costumes?

Most cats are not going to put up with being put into a costume. Although the occasional cat — like Scout the Maine coon dressed as Chucky on Instagram — doesn't seem to mind much.

In general, cats will not enjoy being dressed up as it restricts their movement and feels highly unnatural. Unlike some dogs who may benefit from clothing, like small short-haired and senior dogs who could appreciate the extra warmth of a sweater or pups who refuse to go outside in rainy weather, cats don't usually need clothing. They are pretty good at self-regulating their body temperature, and could in fact overheat if put in clothing or a costume.

If you do get your cat into a costume, make sure they are actively supervised and that it's only for a short period of time. Never leave a cat alone in clothing or a costume, and especially do not let them outside, as they could get caught on something and panic or be unable to escape. Always make sure there are no toxic pieces or choking hazards that could pose a risk. Once all those boxes are checked, though, make sure to snap a quick pic to have in your arsenal of funny cat photos!
