'Drama King' Dachshund Puppy Makes No Effort To Get Out Of Bed And We're Here For It

People aren't the only ones who don't always want to get out of bed when they're all comfy and cozy, or — let's be honest — being just plain lazy. So, when we saw this TikTok video of an adorable dachshund, named Riley, being a little dramatic about having to get out of the big bed to go for a walk, we could totally relate. Some may think the darling doxie is overreacting, but we say stand your ground, little pup!

Captioned "the cutest drama king ever..." and set to the TikTok-popular piano tune "Little Life," the short clip shows the melodramatic dachshund lying back, seemingly covering his eyes, and generally ignoring his human caregiver, who wants to take him out for a walk. "Such a cutie!!" exclaimed one commenter at the end of the video, while another notably added, "Sleep tight 💤💤😪😪💕. Looks good to me right now 👍👍😁😁." And we couldn't agree more!

Why do dogs like sleeping in beds?

Who doesn't love a nice, comfy bed? People certainly do. Often, their dogs also enjoy jumping up into the big bed with their humans, also for comfort, but it goes a little deeper than that, too.

Beyond warmth and coziness, dogs love sleeping on human beds because it gives them a sense of safety and security, along with a feeling of being close to the humans they've bonded with. Naturally pack animals, dogs are very drawn to scent, and a human bed is covered in it, providing your pet with a comforting, familiar spot that can help reduce anxiety. Getting up on a big bed also gives them an elevated position to watch over their territory and makes them feel like they are protecting their human companions.

Many owners let their pet sleep with them at night in bed, but some don't. If you're in the latter category, the best way to keep a dog off your bed is with positive reinforcement training and providing the dog with their own comfortable dog bed. Of course, shutting the door or using a pet gate will surely keep the doggy out of your room. Then again, maybe the cuddles are worth it!
