According to CBS New York, the American Kennel Club has officially named the most popular dog breed of 2016 and the Labrador Retriever reigns supreme. This isn't anything new for Labs, which have topped the AKC's list for 26 consecutive years.

Most of the top spots have stayed the same since 2015, actually.

In fact, the entire top five has remained unchanged since last year (German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Bulldogs, and Beagles sit in spots two through four).

Here's the full AKC top ten list for 2016:

  1. Labrador Retriever
  2. German Shepherd
  3. Golden Retriever
  4. Bulldog
  5. Beagle
  6. French Bulldog
  7. Poodle
  8. Rottweiler
  9. Yorkshire Terrier
  10. Boxer
