There's nothing better than a happy ending, and finding a forever home is every shelter dog's dream. Sadly it doesn't happen for every pup, but for this Australian Shepherd, finding her new family was phenomenal.
Ruben May was abandoned by her owners in a backyard in Houston, Texas. She was packed into a pickup and left behind a fence in some stranger's yard with a note that read "My dog is in your backyard. I cannot afford her. My husband beats her and I can't let her live with us. I love her too much. Her name is Ruben-May. Thank you."
The homeowner Quincy Bui came home to find the note and Ruben-May, sick with a skin condition, in his backyard. His home surveillence camera caught the whole thing on tape (watch video below). Bui called both the police and the animal shelter, and Ruben-May was released into their care.
So often, this is the end of the story, but not for Ruben-May! When her story went viral, a loving family decided they would find her and provide her with a home. Blaine and Amber Fuselier found Ruben-May at BARC Houston Animal Shelter where they adopted her and renamed her Minnie. "We went to look at her and just had to take her home with us," said Mr. Fuselier in an interview.
Minnie, named after the Disney character, adapted well to her new home. The Fuseliers had two other dogs in their household who keep Minnie company. This happy, healthy, and friendly dog may have had a heartbreaking past, but her future with the Fuseliers is bright.
