"Introducing the newest member of our family, Gidget," Burtka wrote on Instagram.
The couple's twins Harper and Gideon are seen walking and cuddling the lovable new pet.
Gidget was rescued from the streets of Thailand by a non-profit organization and then brought to the U.S. by North Shore Animal League America, which is one of largest no-kill animal shelter and adoption organizations.
Cindy Szczuido is the Senior Manager of Rescue Services. She say the living conditions that dogs like Gidget lived in were heartbreaking.
"There's a landfill that have thousands of dogs in it, and they have no where to go, many are injured," Szczudlo told Cuteness. "We've rescued 30 since May."
Gidget was rescued a couple of weeks ago and promptly adopted by Harris and Burtka on Monday.
"She is the sweetest dog," recounts Szczudlo. "You can't even imagine that she is living on the streets. She has a wonderful personality."
