This Poor Dog Spent a Week In a Storm Drain & Lived!
Finding a missing pet alive and well is the best thing in the world. Seriously we should really be throwing more parades for dogs and cats who come home safe. Although nothing is worth the terror one experiences when a furry member of their family runs away, sometimes the pet in question comes back with a story so death-defying their adventure is almost as worth celebrating as their homecoming.
Take the case of Edgar. As Socializta on Imgur explains, Edgar ran away from home a few weeks ago. The week he ran away had been "very stormy," and "this lil' guy is afraid of storms." So after seven days with no sign of Edgar, his people "feared the worst."
It wasn't just his people who were worried. Socializta has another dog, Oscar, who could basically be Edgar's twin, and was such a "sad lil' pooch" without his brother. "He never leaves his brother's side and was very depressed this last week without his best friend."
A week ago, the family finally found their beloved Edgar (thank goodness!).
"My dad was walking Oscar through the neighborhood when he heard a noise. It sounded like a dog whining, but so does everything when you're looking for a lost dog. After further investigation, my dad look in a drainage tunnel under the ground That's when Edgar started barking, whining, and screaming to be saved."
The family wasn't able to extricate Edgar on their own, so they called for professional backup.
"The fire department was able to cut through the tunnel and dig up the soil around it. This is the first time Edgar saw sunlight all week."
Okay, just give us one hot second while we weep our way through an entire box of tissues. (Deep, deep breath.) Okay. We're good.
Edgar's people found him "dehydrated, starving, and shivering" and though Edgar was covered in sores and had infections, but rest assured, Edgar is going to be okay (yay!) Socializta says that Edgar is "one tired doge" right now. Of course he is! We are so sorry he had to go through this terrible ordeal and so grateful that he is finally home with his people.
