Rescue’s Foodie Instagram Will Destroy You With Cuteness
Three short years ago, this pooch was starving and living on the streets. But fate stepped in and Popeye was rescued by his Forever Parents, Ivy Diep and her husband. Diep told The Dodo that she and her husband knew the second they saw him that they had to help. They took Popeye in and he went from being a dangerously-underweight stray with matted hair and an aching belly to one of the best-fed dogs in the world.
Oh, and to being an Instagram star. So there’s that.
Popeye’s celebrity grew organically. His mom and dad are huge foodies who live in Los Angeles and love going out to eat. When they adopted Popeye, they started bringing him along since many L.A. eateries offer dog-friendly patio seating. And since Popeye is very well-behaved and never tries to steal human food that he isn’t offered, they started including him in the Instagram pictures of their amazing meals.
"We ate out a lot and would take pictures of our food," Diep explained to The Dodo. "When Popeye joined the family, he always wanted to tag along with us, and we realized that he was really well-behaved around food, and our food pics started to include him."
Flash forward to 2016 and Popeye now has his own Instagram with more than 100,000 followers. And considering how cute (and hunger-inducing) his foodie pics are, we're not surprised his account is so popular.
He loves pizza:
And, of course, desserts:
Now, what do we have to do to get a lunch date with Popeye?
